The Belfast Stagehouse in Belfast
For nearly 30 years Belfast citizens and civic leaders have been hoping to find a location where a dedicated and raked performance space could serve all the artists who need a stage and an audience to cultivate their craft. While a variety of dedicated citizens have been valiantly exploring opportunities off and on, for the last 2 years the current board of directors and several others have been preparing the groundwork to move forward on this project at a moment’s notice. The mission is flexible enough to respond to changing landscapes and economic forces and to consider viable options as they arise.
We are The Belfast Stagehouse
The Belfast Stagehouse is a Maine nonprofit organization whose mission is to establish and operate a performance and events facility offering performing arts, cultural events, informational and educational programs in coordination with and for the benefit of Belfast and surrounding areas.
Through its program and facility operations, The Belfast Stagehouse will strive to attain the following goals:
1. To provide fair and objective access to a dedicated and properly equipped performance and events space for local and touring performers as well as the creation of a satisfying entertainment experience for all audience members.
2. To present year-round arts and cultural experiences, primarily focused on the performing arts including theater, dance, music, puppetry, poetry and other creative expressions from local and touring performers. There is also opportunity to present film, photography, streamed live programming, conferences and cultural festivals.
3. To offer educational opportunities in performing arts and hands-on training in the technical aspects of theater and stage management for all ages.
4. To be an integral part of the creative economy and the collaborative spirit so prevalent in Belfast.
